Yes, you can get paid UGC jobs with zero followers. When a brand runs your video as an advert, your followers never see it. The brand pays Meta or TikTok to show the file to its own customers, so it is buying the video and the right to use it, not your audience. That means your first weeks are better spent on three good samples than on growing an account.
If you are starting from scratch, read how to become a UGC creator in Europe first.
Why followers don't matter for UGC
In an influencer campaign, the post goes out on your account, so the brand is paying for your audience. In a UGC job, you hand over a file. The brand puts it in its own ads, product pages or emails, and its ad budget decides who sees it.
So a skincare brand advertising in Portugal needs someone who can show its cleanser naturally in European Portuguese. Whether that person has 200 followers or 20,000 makes no difference to the ad. UGC versus influencer marketing explains the difference in more depth.
Things change only if a brief asks you to post on your own account. That is a separate job, priced separately, and the post has to be clearly marked as advertising.
Where to find UGC jobs in Europe
Paid briefs come through creator marketplaces, agencies and direct outreach. Marketplaces handle the admin and payment. Direct clients give you more control over price, but the contract and invoicing are then yours.
Check where a platform accepts creators before you build a profile:
| Platform | Creators accepted from | Pay shown before applying? |
|---|---|---|
| Noovid | The 20 eurozone countries | Yes |
| Influee | Most European countries, including Portugal, Spain and Italy | Shown in the app |
| Billo | US, Canada, UK and Australia only | Shown in the platform |
| Insense | More than 35 countries | Depends on the campaign |

What brands look at instead of followers
A brand scanning applicants will usually watch only your first two or three samples. In that time they check three things:
- Can you hold attention in the first few seconds?
- Is the sound clear and the product easy to see?
- Did you follow the brief on length, format and message?
After that, they look for fit. Name the two or three niches you know well rather than claiming every category, and list only the languages you can film in comfortably.
If a brand asks for your follower numbers on a production-only job, answer once, plainly: your fee covers the video file, not posting to your audience, and here are three relevant samples.
Make three samples without clients
You don't need a client to make a sample. You need a brief. Pick something you already own and write yourself one, as specific as a real brand would be:
Product: the insulated bottle on your desk. Customer: a commuter who forgets to drink water at work. Format: vertical, 30 seconds, spoken in Spanish. Open on the problem in the first two seconds. Make one true claim: the water is still cold at 5pm. End by showing the bottle in a bag.
Then film it as if someone were paying. A sample that follows a brief looks like an ad. "Here's a thing I like" looks like a vlog.
Make each sample a different style, such as a talking-head review, a how-to demo and an unboxing, but keep the same niche and quality. A few things to avoid:
- Over-the-top reactions, which look fake to brands who watch hundreds of videos
- Health or skincare claims you can't back up
- Presenting practice work as if a brand paid for it, so label it as a sample
Put your best, most relevant video first, because some brands won't watch the second. A recent phone, a window for light and a small clip-on microphone are enough to start. The guide to building a UGC portfolio without clients goes further.
Write an application that shows you read the brief
The weakest applications could have been sent to any brand. A good one is short and specific to this brief: where you are, which language you film in, one relevant sample, an opening line you would use and when you can deliver.
Say a Lisbon skincare brand wants a European Portuguese demo of its cleanser in an evening routine. A strong application confirms you film in European Portuguese, links a skincare demo sample, suggests an opening line for an evening routine and confirms your dates. "I love skincare and would be perfect, please check my page" gives the brand nothing to judge.
Agree the basics before filming
Don't film until you know who the brand is, what you must deliver, how much and when you'll be paid, and how the video can be used. Be wary of unpaid "tests" that are really a finished ad, vague rights, and requests to take payment outside the platform you met on. A free product is not payment for an ad.
For direct work, agree in writing where the video can run and for how long, how many revisions are included and whether posting is part of the job. Only use music or footage you have the rights to. UGC creator rates in Europe helps you set your prices.
How it works on Noovid
Noovid accepts creators from the 20 eurozone countries, with no follower requirement. You create a profile with your country, languages, niches and samples, and Noovid reviews it before approval. Then you apply to briefs with the fee shown upfront, or accept an invitation when a brand invites you directly.
Most of the questions above are already answered. There is no commission on what you earn and no cost to join. Each project includes three revisions, and delivery is due within 10 days of the brand approving you or of product receipt, whichever is later. The brand gets full commercial rights with no expiry, and payment goes through the platform.
Posting stays separate. If a brand wants the video on your profile (Social Boost) or wants to run the ad from your account (partnership ads), those are paid add-ons, not part of a standard brief.
Joining doesn't guarantee work. Brands choose between applicants, and demand varies by country, language and niche.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a public Instagram or TikTok account?
No. A brand just needs somewhere to watch your samples, and a marketplace profile or a private portfolio link does that.
Can I become a UGC creator without previous clients?
Yes. Write yourself a specific brief for a product you own, film to it and label the result as a sample. Three samples made this way show more than ten casual product videos.
How do I know whether a UGC job is legitimate?
Get the brand's name, the deliverable, fee, deadline and usage rights in writing before you film. Walk away from requests for a free finished ad or payment outside the platform.
