  • Video exports use H.264 with AAC audio in an MP4 container with the index at the front, which is what Meta recommends.

  • On Stories keep the top 14% and bottom 20% free of text and logos; on Reels keep roughly the bottom 35% clear for the caption and call to action.

  • Meta accepts smaller files, but 1080px on the short side keeps the creative sharp on every device. Upscaling a small source is flagged in the tool.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size should a Facebook ad be?

Use 1080×1350 px (4:5) for Facebook and Instagram Feed, 1080×1920 px (9:16) for Stories and Reels, and 1080×1080 px (1:1) for placements like the right column, search and Messenger. Keep at least 1080 px on the short side.

What is the Instagram Reels ad size?

Instagram Reels ads are 9:16 at 1080×1920 px, the same size as Facebook and Instagram Stories. Keep text and logos out of the bottom 35% so the caption and call-to-action don't cover them.

What aspect ratio do Meta Stories ads use?

Stories ads use 9:16 (1080×1920 px). Meta accepts 1:1 and 4:5 too, but they render with letterboxing. Keep the top 14% and bottom 20% free of key content.

What is the 1.91:1 ad size?

1.91:1 is Meta's link-ad and Audience Network banner ratio: 1200×628 px recommended, 600×314 px minimum. It is the classic landscape thumbnail on links in the feed and the right column.

Can I use one video for every Meta placement?

Yes, if you upload a version for each ratio. Meta's asset customisation lets you attach 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 files to one ad so each placement gets the right crop. This tool produces all of them from a single upload.

How do I resize a video for Instagram without cropping?

Choose Fit instead of Fill: the whole picture is kept and the empty space is filled with a blurred copy of the video or a solid brand colour. This is the standard way to turn a landscape video into a 9:16 Reel or a 4:5 feed post without losing anything.

Which sizes do I actually need?

For most campaigns: 9:16 for Stories and Reels, 4:5 for the feed and 1:1 for placements like the right column and Messenger. Add 16:9 when you run in-stream video and 1.91:1 for link ads and Audience Network banners.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read, previewed and re-encoded by your browser using WebCodecs. Nothing is sent to Noovid or any server, which is also why large files work without waiting for an upload.

Does the export lose quality?

The video is re-encoded once at a high bitrate at Meta's recommended resolution. Audio is copied as AAC. If your source is smaller than a target size, the tool warns you that it is being upscaled.

Is the audio kept?

Yes. The original audio track is carried into every export. Videos without audio export without it.

Which browsers work?

Previews work everywhere. Video export needs WebCodecs, available in recent Chrome, Edge and Safari; image export works in every modern browser.

Can I use these for TikTok too?

The 9:16 export is the same size TikTok uses, so yes. Turn off the Meta placement UI in the preview to check the framing against TikTok's own layout.
