This UGC glossary gathers 30 terms brands and creators need to understand to work better together. Use it as a quick reference when creating briefs, hiring videos, reviewing deliveries, or planning ads with creator content.
Essential terms
1. UGC
User-generated content. In marketing, it usually means video made by real people to demonstrate, explain, or recommend a product.
2. UGC creator
A creator who produces content for brands, even without relying on their own audience.
3. Brief
A document or form explaining goal, audience, message, references, restrictions, and deadline.
4. Hook

5. CTA
Call to action: buy, learn more, click, test, save, or another next step.
6. Social proof
A trust signal created by experience, opinion, actual use, or demonstration. In UGC, it's what makes a video of a real person more convincing than the brand talking about itself: people trust someone who looks like them.

A requested adjustment when the video does not follow the brief or needs correction.
